Mundial - World Cup!
Yup, it starts tomorrow folks and I’m very excited! Yeah some women also love the World Cup and aren't out busy shopping while you blokes guzzle up the beer and munch on the fries. Some of us like to see those tight buns handling the football across those luscious fields, hmmm. And also for the international competition, yeah!
First match between Germany and Costa Rica starts at 18:00 (6 PM local time) and to find out what time in your area visit the FIFA website and click on the time to open the “Match Time Converter”. Cool feature by the way FIFA, kudos!
Oh and get a load of this, a Pee Goal! This appeared in Gizmodo this past Monday, 5th June:
Pee Goal
As a World Cup mania sweeps everywhere in the world but the good old US of A., you might be hearing shouting from men’s rooms across the world, yelling Goooooooaaaaaaaalllll! The pee goal has a little ball on a string hanging in front of its wee soccer goal, inviting sporting gentlemen to try their hand at scoring the big one. Or small one, as the case may be.
Plus, there’s a practical aspect to it. It keeps the splashing down and prevents cigarette butts and such from clogging up the works. At $8.13, it might just be cheap enough to drop off at your local pub to enhance the World Cup festivities. – Charlie White

Room to Read
I sent a letter today to a very special someone I think you should get to know. Firstly, below is my letter:
Dear Mr. John Wood,
It was with such joy I read articles about Room to Read on CNN and Newsweek today!
In our age of egotism your contribution to humanity stands out all the more.
Just this morning I was reading a quote by George Eliot:
"The most solid comfort one can fall back upon is the thought that the business of one's life is to help in some small way to reduce the sum of ignorance, degradation and misery on the face of this beautiful earth."
Voila, I will surely get the word out through my blog and discussion forums.
Much admiration
Short but to the point huh? Well actually you have no idea yet what I am rambling on about, so see here:
Wood's eye for detail proves charitable
AND HERE
For young high fliers, philanthropy is just another form of business
Something!

Superstition
I'm such a pragmatic person and superstitions, well frankly I find them silly but nevertheless they will play mind games on you IF you’re not careful. After making my morning coffee I look at the clock out of curiosity and lo and behold the time was 6:06! I got a slight jolt when I remembered that today is 06/06/06. Truthfully I don’t give any importance to that number anymore, however and there always is a “however”, it would have been my Daddy’s 53rd birthday. Take it or leave it that number is shrouded in fear for so many and there are those who will play on that. Where did the correlation between that number and Lucifer come from? According to the Bible, Book of Revelations (13:16-18): He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. (13:16-18). The Beast which some equate with the Antichrist is a wolf that will come in sheep’s clothing to destroy man, God’s beloved. In my view that’s anyone who doesn’t value life, their own and those of others and if you ask me we’re doing the devil’s work by hurting each other emotionally and physically. So come out of it! Make your own mark on the history of human kind by caring, respecting and loving one another!

Corporate Honesty
I now work for myself, but when I used to work for a licensing company of entertainment product merchandising the company was a real mafia - only the boys got promoted and it was a real brothel! They managed to complete the whole supply chain covering entertainment of all sorts: movies, music, newspapers, sports, mobile phones, real estate and yet they were so stingy on the salaries.
When I started working there everything was a mess, I had to clean house, take out the garbage, clear the dust, exterminate the rodents, in short make order. The growth percentages spoke for themselves and I felt my contribution to the transformation deserved ROI (return on investment).
I know this is a long story but I'll get to the chase...I requested my raise and was met with resistance. I was patient, knew I would tire of their pettiness. Restless I reviewed my options and the status quo was not one of them. Six months after I had asked for the raise the boss calls me into his room and says "we've decided to give you a raise 27% more." I looked into his eyes and announced that I was leaving the company, they obviosuly did not value my impact and missed an opportunity.
Last sentence I promise...since then their revenue has diminished and one of their spin-offs went bankrupt.
Had they been more transparent their resources would have multiplied rather than their empire crumbling.
